Ottomanian Garb Part 1

I start my Ottomanian / Turkish Garb
I decide to use the Pattern from a Handout of Mistress Ari.Shes a Laurel who is specialist in Middle East Garb .

Also I took for my Researchings about the different Pieces a second Handout,that I also found from a Scadian Lady

The Basic Garb in the Ottoman Time has 4 Layers.
I need a
-Gömlek (Undershirt)
-Salwar (Pants)

-Entari ( Undercoat)
-Great Coat ( Mantle)

later I will make a short Vest,called Yelek

The Material for this Garb I buyed on the last Stoffmarkt Holland.This Stoffmarkt Holland comes 3 times the Year to Hamburg and the Netherland Sellers offer different Kinds of Fabric for mostly low Price.I dont want to have authentic Fabrics,so I buy what I like .My fave Color is Black and I found some Viscose Fabirc in Black with gold Thread in it ,that I will use for the Salwar.

In my personal "Fabric Store" I have a Linon Cotton Blane ,that I will use for the Gömlek.
I start to cut the Gömlek and the Salwar after the Pattern in the Pdf of Mistress Ari .
By the Pattern of the Salwar I see that it wont fit at my legs

.So it seams to be that I have to make it a second time after a Pattern from a Bellydance Pattern from Simplicity.
I found some Photos that I will show you ,how the Basic Layers look on a Original Miniature.

I look in my last Post of the Project and see that I write most of this a second time ,but yet I hope that I get all together in time without a Break.The time to Coronation is short and I have to do something for her Highness Eleanora till than .So I must see that I finish the Project soon as possible.

Estrella Queens Basket

Her Royal Highness Eleanora has ask me ,if I can do somethings for the Estrella War.They want to visit the War in February and dont know ,if they need any Presents ,but its a good feeling to have some in your suitcase.
She ask me specially for some Rosaries and i LOVE to do this.I´m not in the Church and not very religious ,but Im interesting in religious things
 Most of the Stuff I need to do Rosaries I have at home,some is on the Way to me .
I begun with the big Rosaries with 55 Pearls
I use Glasspearls ,Cloisonne crosses and Silk Thread.I also made some Tassels from Wool

Before I start with the Ottoman Project ,I have to finish a Project for Nandolf .And also I began to make Rosaries.The Royal Highness Eleanora ask me for this and I said to her that I will make it.While I dont Remeber ,how many Pearls they have ,I began with a small Researching.I thought it will be a small Researching,but today I get a big Book from the Library in Hamburg.
I found out that there are 8 or 9 different Rosaries .And I have to look which kind of Rosary is from the early Century and from later Century.
On my Researchings I found 2 great Sides in the INet.One is it English ,one in German .

The Ottoman Project

Its time to start a new Project and in the Moment I dont have enough Lust to start my regular life Winterproject ,so I decide to start a Medieval Winterproject .
I be Viking and my Plan was to make something from the Rus ,but I dont find really good Material .All I find was a modern version of Russian Folk Garb ,mostly from the 18 th cen.So I decide to make something lat but some turkish from the Ottoman Time.After this I will make me some Middle East Outfit.

SOOOO after 1000 Sides of Material ( it wasnt that much ,but it was alot ) I know that I need a GÖLMEK and a SALWAR.Both Pieces are for the UNdergarment.The Gölmek is a lightweight Cotton or Linen Dress and the Salwar is a Silk or maybe Silkmixture Underpants

I get the Fabric for the Salwar on the last Stoffmarkt Holland here in Hamburg .Its a Poly MIx in Black with gold Threads in it and I love it .I dont want to have authentic Fabric in the Moment.First I want to see how I feel when the Outfit is finish and after this I will think about to make a Second with authentic Fabrics.At the End of this Month ,I think is a Sale by a Silk Fabric Shop.Maybe if I found something ...
For the Gämlek I will use the Rest of my Linen /Cotton Blend ,from which I made the new Tunic for Halfdan
For the Entari I have to Different Fabrics .One is a brown Stripe Cotton Blend ,the other one is a Violett Gold Poly Blend .What I need is a good Fabric for the Yelek .I think I will have some in my Boxes .There is a red one ,also a Poly Blend or a Rest of the Blue Cotton I had buyed for the University last Year.

Also nicht nur das ich gerade noch auf meine Bücher für mein russisches Emsemble warte ,hatte ich jetzt die Chance mich vorab schon mit dem Byzantinischen zu beschäftigen.
Her Highness Eleonora braucht ein neues Outfit für die University in Schweden.Da diese unter einem Orientalischem Motto steht ,musste natürlich auch ein Orientalisches Outfit her.Gesagt ,Getan ...hier ist ein Bericht über "Byzantine Quick and Dirty"

Da uns die Zeit weglief und nur ein geringes Kapital zur Stoffanlage zur Verfügung bestand,begab ich mich neben meiner Recherche auf Ebay Stoffsuche.Bei einem meiner Lieblingsverkäufer fand ich Baumwoll Satin in den Farben lila,grün und blau.Ausserdem schnupperte ich mein Lager durch und fand eine ganze Menge Dinge ,die wir verwenden könnten.

So Recherche:

Das Byzantinische Ensemble besteht aus mehreren Schichten.Wir orientierten uns an verschiedenen Bücher ,so wie an der Seite von Black Tauna ( den SCA Namen muss ich gleich nochmal raussuchen)
In einem Buch von Herbet Norris ( Ancient European Costumes) stiessen wir dann auch dieses Bild .Dieses Outfit fand den Gefallen der Highness.

Also gut ,dann schauen wir mal was wir da machen können
Bei meiner Suche bin ich dann auf folgende Übersicht für die Schnitte gestossen

Ein Palium hat HRH schon ,darum brauchten wir uns nicht mehr zu kümmern .Das Palium ist gelb und aus echter Seide.Klar hätten wir lieber mit echter Seide gearbeitet ,allerdings war das aufgrund des Preises einfach nicht möglich .
Die bestellten Stoffe kamen und wir wählten den lilanen für das Kleid ,weil ich davon noch 5 meter bekommen hatte und den Grünen für eine Art Stola ,das ich davon nur noch 3 Meter bekam.

Ich hab dann noch mehrere Bilder gefunden ,die wir als Inspiration benutzt haben .Zu dem Kleid kommen noch ein Gürtel,Handstulpen,Borte für den Arm und ein Hut .

Mongolen ,Russen und ihre Geschichte

Nachdem ich ja im 13 Jhd.in Bremen mit meiner Darstellung gestartet bin ,bin ich ja nun mittlerweile in der Zeit viel früher.Im Augenblick spiele ich Wikinger Haithabu/ Birka um 900 .Das was fast jeder ,der Wikinger darstellt ,eben darstellt.
Ausser das meine Name nun mehr so garnicht mehr passt und ich überlege mich umzubennen,habe ich mir noch was anders überlegt.
Ich habe seit Urzeit ein grosses Interesse am Asiatischen Raum .Dabei ist es völlig egal ,ob Russland oder China.Es lag für mich daher Nahe mich in den Rus Raum zu orientieren,leider gibt es da so gut wie keine Bilder der frühen Zeit.
Bei den Mongolen ,meiner Zweiten Wahl ,musste ich feststellen ,das ich dann wieder mit der Zeit nach hinten rutsche,denn die Mongolen ,so wie es sie heute gibt ,gab es erst am 1250.

Nun ja was tun ...Byzantine ist die eine Möglichkeit ,Wikinger dann wieder die andere.Wenn ich was Deutsches spiele wäre ich in der Zeit bei Karl des Grossen und den Awaren .Die Awaren waren ein hunnischer Reiterstamm ,dessen Herkunft nicht ganz klar ist ,weil es aus der Zeit keine Aufzeichnung gibt.Sie sollen türkisch Abstammung sein ,haben sich aber wohl was die Abstammung betrifft ziemlcih mit anderen Völkern wie den Bulgaren und Ungaren gemischt .Was mir dann ein wenig entgegen kommt mit der Bekleidung.Ich lese gerade einen Roman ,den Awarenfürst,den ich keinem Empfehlen würde ,weil so gut wie ganricht recherchiert wurde ,was die Ausstattung betrifft ( roter Samt um 800 in Deutshcland,wohl kaum),der mich aber irgendwie inspiriert.Leider wohl in die falsche Richtung.Die Frauen Kleidung wird dort garnicht oder so gut wie garnicht beschrieben ,nur die Männer.Somit muss ich wohl von vorne anfangen meine Geschichtskenntnisse aufzufrischen und mich neben der Wikipedia noch durch einige mehr Bücher lesen .Ich werde dann hier immer ausführlich darüber berichten wie weit ich gekommen bin .
Nebenbei arbeite ich noch an einem grüsseren Wikinger Projekt für 2 meiner Männer (Halfdan und Duke ThorvaldR) und meinen eigenen einmal finnischem und einmal Birka Outfit.Auch davon wird es dann übernächste Woche Fotos geben

Russian Medieval Garb

Last time I saw a Documentation about Russia and there was a great Idea for a Russian Gown .The Problem is that the Gown is from 1800 and later .
So I start my researchings and come really fast to the Pafe from Sofya la Rus

The Pictures of modern Folk Costumes I found are very near to this Pattern and so I think Í go in the right direction

I thinking about to do a Documentation ,but Im not sure if I can .As I go to the School I love to write articles ,but today I dont know how to start and in English is it really hard for me .So I will see what I will do .The other thing is ,that all issuses are very well written can be found in the I Net .So the Question is why to do it again

Bellydance Underworld

Sometime ago my good friend Melli gave me this Bellydance DVD

As I build up my new bookshelfs and sort my DVD I found it and it long ago that I look it the last time.While I want to give it back to Melli next Week and two good freinds of mine come over the Weekend I decide to it agian right after upstanding to my first coffee today .
The Performances that I like the most are the Tribal Fusion.The best Artist for my Meaning ist Kami Liddle

Its great how she combinate an Industrial Song with classic Beyydance Music in her Chereography.And also she is wearing a very modern but classical Costume.
The other one I like most is Katie Kay

She is not a typical Bellydance but she had a great Perfomance on the DVD

Not my Style is Gothic Bellydance.The biggest Gothic Bellydancer Tempest had on the DVD a Bellydance on Jill Tracys Doomsday.For my Understanding the Song is not Gothic and when I see her Performance it reminds me on Dancer some years ago here in Germany .We call them the "Dying Elves" while they flutter with their army like they dying on the Dancefloor.Mostly they dance on Lene Lovich or Pagan Folk Songs.Anyway ..its my meaning ,but for everyone who is interesting in Gothic Bellydance take a look on this side
